Parakeets

Parakeets are an alternative/indie rock band from Düsseldorf, consisting of Julius & Merle Eckardt, Niklas Grothe, Siri Baden & Juliusz Konieczny. Since their formation in 2016, the group has already been able to make a name for itself outside of Düsseldorf, through nationwide concerts and festivals, and inspires their audience with elements from indie rock & Britpop. They sound individual, fresh and stay in the ear. In 2019, the group also played abroad at the Reading Fringe Festival in Reading (UK) as musical representatives of the state capital Düsseldorf. After various radio premieres and interviews across NRW's local radio stations, these successes earned the group a nomination for the popNRW Prize 2021 in the category "best newcomer". With their music, the band says, they want to create their own timeless genre that combines familiar sounds of music history with dynamic youth.
